What is the Lakkira Air system?

Lakkira Air is a premium whole-home scent diffusion system that integrates with your ducted reverse cycle air conditioning. Using cold-air atomisation, it transforms fragrance oil into an ultra-fine dry mist that distributes silently through your existing ductwork, with no heat, no water, and no residue.

How does cold-air diffusion work?

Cold compressed air brakes fragrance oil into nano-sized particles. These particles are dry by the time they enter your airstream, carried by your HVAC fan through the ductwork and dispersed evenly into every room. No heat is involved at any point.

Will it leave residue in my ducts or on furnishings?

No. The dry nano-mist disperses completely into the airstream without leaving oil residue in ducts, on surfaces, or on fabrics.

Installation & Compatibility

Where is the diffuser installed?

The Lakkira Air diffuser is installed in the return air cavity, the section of your ducted system where room-temperature air is drawn back in before conditioning. This is the safest and most effective installation position, ensuring even distribution throughout the home.

What systems is it compatible with?

Lakkira Air is designed for use with reverse cycle ducted air conditioning systems only, in both cooling and heating modes. It is not suitable for ducted gas heating, evaporative cooling, or any system using a gas-fired or combustion heat source. If you are unsure about your system, please contact us before purchasing.

Can it be used when the system is on heat mode?

Yes. The diffuser is installed in the return air cavity, where air is always at ambient room temperature, regardless of whether the system is heating or cooling. All Lakkira Air fragrance oils have flash points well above any temperature present at the installation point, making heat mode operation entirely safe.

Can I install it myself?

The system is designed for straightforward self-installation via your return air vent, most installs take 10–20 minutes with basic tools. If you are unsure of your system layout or power access, a qualified HVAC technician can assist. Full instructions are included in the product manual.

Must the HVAC fan be running to use the diffuser?

Yes, and this is important. Do not run the Lakkira Air diffuser without the HVAC fan active. Without airflow, fragrance oil accumulates in the ductwork rather than dispersing into your rooms. This can cause concentrated odors, residue buildup, and potential damage to the unit or air handler. Always confirm your HVAC fan is running before switching the diffuser on. Your diffuser schedule should always align with your fan operating times. You can also set your system to fan-only mode to diffuse fragrance without heating or cooling.

Fragrance Oils

Are the fragrance oils safe for my home and family?

Yes. All Lakkira Air fragrance oils are IFRA-compliant, alcohol-free, phthalate-free, and formulated specifically for cold-air HVAC diffusion. They are assessed as safe for residential spaces including homes with adults and children when used as directed. We recommend lower intensity settings in homes with cats, birds, or individuals with known fragrance sensitivities.

Are the oils flammable?

All Lakkira Air fragrance oils have flash points ranging from 65°C to above 90°C. The return air cavity operates at ambient room temperature, well below any safety threshold. Cold-air diffusion involves no heat source of any kind. The system is not a fire risk when installed and used as directed.

How long does a fragrance cartridge last?

At recommended settings: part-time use up to 100 days, full-time use up to 60 days. Actual lifespan varies depending on intensity setting, home size, and how many hours per day the system runs.

How do I dispose of empty cartridges?

Dispose of empty cartridges in accordance with your local council waste guidelines. Do not pour fragrance oil down drains or into waterways. For guidance on chemical disposal in your area, visit your local council website.

Performance & Usage

Why can't I smell the fragrance when I walk in?

This is normal,

. and a sign the system is working well. When scent is consistent and evenly distributed, it becomes part of the atmosphere rather than a noticeable addition. Guests entering your home will notice it. This is called sensory adaptation, and it is a hallmark of elevated, hotel-style scenting.

How do I adjust the scent intensity?

Intensity is controlled via the app by adjusting how long the diffuser runs and the pause interval between cycles. We recommend starting on a moderate setting and adjusting over the first few days. Less is almost always more with whole-home scenting.

How do I set a schedule?

Use the Lakkira Air app to set start and end times, create multiple time periods throughout the day, and adjust for weekdays versus weekends. For best results, align your diffuser schedule with the times your HVAC fan is running.

Troubleshooting

No scent or very weak scent

Check the fragrance cartridge is not empty and is correctly seated. Confirm the HVAC fan is running. Check the diffuser is powered on and your schedule is active. Increase intensity settings in the app. If the issue continues, contact us at hello@lakkira.com.

Scent is too strong

Reduce intensity in the app, shorten daily operating periods, or increase the pause interval between diffusion cycles. Ensure rooms are adequately ventilated. Allow 24–48 hours after any adjustment for the scent level to settle.

Device not connecting to app

Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Keep your phone close to the diffuser during pairing. Confirm Bluetooth is enabled. Restart the app and repeat the pairing process. If the issue persists, reset the device and try again.
